Card me a friend

31st July. Rainy day. Little gloomy. Twelve Rotaractors go to a cozy little place on S.V.Road in Vile Parle (West), Mumbai called Barbhaya Girls Orphanage to celebrate the International Day of Friendship.
This blogger was one of them. Here is how it went :

We entered the pretty building and saw the happy faces of the little girls and all the gloom that came along with the weather vanished. Then, we introduced ourselves and Aj and Saranya who were the project coordinators told the girls about the importance of friendship.

Introductions.
Then we distributed raw material for the friendship cards that the girls were going to make and give to each other. They were very excited and asked for a lot of sketch pens and water colors so that they could use their creativity to the fullest. They made groups according to their ages and started working on the cards will full enthusiasm.

Helping them execute their ideas

One of the Rotaractors had brought lady fingers and potatoes which the girls dipped in various colors and imprinted them beautifully on their cards. This exercise was very popular with the youngest lot.

After all the cards were made, the girls settled down and exchanged the cards among them. It was very comforting to see the happiness on the faces of the girls while they exchanged their cards. After exchanging their cards we distributed chocolates among them, which made them more happy. And then, it was time for the girls to do their homework and time for us to leave.

The Group

The girls put their cute noses against the glass door and bid us goodbye. This made us a little sad, but we were contented that we made a lot of new and interesting friends on the International Day of Friendship!
